Privacy Policy

The short version: CertWiz does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. All certificate data is stored locally on your Mac and never leaves your device, except for network connections you explicitly initiate within the app.

1. Overview

CertWiz ("the App") is a native macOS application developed by PointBlue Technology. This Privacy Policy describes how the App handles information on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

CertWiz does not collect, store, or transmit:

Personal information of any kind
Certificate files, private keys, or cryptographic material from your device
Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
IP addresses or network information
Names, email addresses, or any account information

We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking libraries.

3. Local Data Storage

CertWiz stores data locally on your Mac using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:

Certificate files you import into the Certificate Library
Domain Watch configurations and check history
Host Checker results

This data resides entirely on your device and is not accessible to PointBlue Technology or any third party. You can delete all stored data at any time by removing the App from your Mac.

4. Network Connections

CertWiz makes outbound network connections only when you explicitly initiate an action that requires one:

Host Checker: Connects to the hostname and port you enter to retrieve its TLS certificate chain via a standard HTTPS/TLS handshake.
Domain Watch: Periodically connects to domains you have added to check their certificate status, based on the schedule you configure.
Revocation Checking: When you request a revocation check, the App contacts the OCSP responder or CRL distribution point specified in the certificate. These are standard public infrastructure endpoints operated by certificate authorities, not by PointBlue Technology.

No data from these connections is transmitted to PointBlue Technology. The App communicates directly with the target servers; we do not operate any proxy or intermediary service.

5. macOS Keychain Access

The Keychain section of CertWiz reads certificate data from your macOS system Keychain for display purposes only. No Keychain data is exported, transmitted, or stored by the App beyond what you explicitly choose to import into the Certificate Library.

6. Third-Party Services

CertWiz does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, or data brokers. The App does not contain any third-party SDKs that collect data.

7. Children's Privacy

CertWiz is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All data stored by CertWiz lives exclusively on your Mac. To delete all App data, uninstall CertWiz and remove its associated Application Support files. You can also delete individual certificates, Domain Watch entries, and Host Checker history directly within the App.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
